Children's Liturgy of the Word |
Children's Litugry of the Word (CLOW), is an opportunity for children in Grades K to 2 to hear the living and active word of God interpreted for them, leading them to deeper faith. Dismissed from Mass as the Liturgy of the Word begins, children are escorted to the Sarah Black R00m in the Parish Center where they hear the Scripture readings proclaimed in 'child friendly' terms. The Word becomes alive and present to the children as discussion unfolds. In addition, children experience active participation in the liturgy through the ritual language of symbol, gesture, posture and space. Children are escorted back to the Church where they join their families for the continuation of the Mass - the Liturgy of the Eucharist. |

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time Mark 1:29-38 |
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark One day Jesus went with James and John to Simon and Andrew's house. Simon's mother-in-law was sick in bed with a high fever. As soon as Jesus went into the house, Simon and Andrew told him about her. So Jesus went to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. Her fever left her immediately, and she began to serve all those where were there. That evening, the people of the town brought to Jesus anyone who was sick and those who had evil spirits in them. And Jesus healed them. Early the next morning, Jesus went off to a place where he could be alone for awhile and pray. Simon and some of the others went to find him, and said, "Everyone is looking for you." But Jesus said to them, "We must go to other towns now so that I can proclaim the Good News there also. Because that is what I came to do." So Jesus went into the synagogues all around Galilee and preached the Good News. The Gospel of the Lord. |
